Obituary

Loretta Lee Montgomery, daughter of William and Nellie (Silkett) Barnes was born April 22, 1931 in Griswold. She died Friday, August 12, 2016 at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 21 days.
Loretta graduated from Griswold High School in 1949 and started working at a doctor's office and then at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs before attending the University of Iowa and becoming an x-ray technician.  In 1972, Loretta and Robert Ira Montgomery were united into marriage at Rock Island, Illinois.  She continued working at the hospital until her retirement.  Before her retirement, she was in charge of the emergency room x-ray and the orthopedic x-ray areas.
Loretta was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold. She enjoyed playing golf and attending plays.  She also enjoyed going camping.
Loretta is survived by her husband Robert of Iowa City.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and Robert Barnes; sister, Arlene Drake.
Graveside services will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Griswold Cemetery.
