Loren Eugene Lyman, the son of Roy and Opal (Frisbie) Lyman, was born November 11, 1935 in Oakland, IA. He died April 19, 2017, at his home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Loren was baptized and confirmed at the Oakland Christian Church. He attended school at Oakland, graduating with the class of 1954. After graduation, he worked for his father for several months before being accepted into barber school in Des Moines. After completing barber school, Loren returned to Oakland, where he served his apprenticeship.  After completing his apprenticeship, he opened Service Barbershop. On May 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Gloria Rolph at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland. Loren owned and operated Service Barbershop for over 61 years.

Loren enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and farming. He had driven a semi hauling cattle and a cement truck while helping build the interstate. Loren enjoyed spending time at the lake and in Arizona in the winter. Loren loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Loren was preceded in death by his son Timothy E. Lyman and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Lyman of Oakland; his daughters, Sharon Mueller and husband Jim, and Brenda Konfrst, all of Omaha, NE; his grandchildren: Michael, Audrey, Erica, Adam, Stacey, Wendy, and Cory; his great grandchildren; and his brother Marvin LeRoy Lyman of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Carson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:30 until 5:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
