Obituary

Lois Nadine Dorsheimer, the daughter of Henry Washington and Edna Grace (Kennedy) Elliott was born south of Hancock, IA on December 21, 1920 and died January 12, 2015 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA at the age of 94 years and 22 days.


She attended school near Hancock and then later moved to Carson. In 1934, her parents purchased a 40 acre farm and dairy on South Chestnut Street in Atlantic, IA. Lois and her sister delivered milk on the way to school. Lois graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1938.


Lois was a hard working farm wife who also enjoyed two neighborhood clubs and numerous crafts. She made soap for several years for the Hitchcock House Pioneer Festival. She was very active in the Lewis Church of Christ.


She is survived by her children Dennis and wife Nancy of Altoona, IA, Janis Kunze and husband Jeff of Knoxville, TN, and Daryl of Lewis: her grandchildren [Dennis's] LeAnn (Randall) Classen of Meade, KS, and their children Logan Green, Malesa Osborn and Randsom Classen; Dawn Karnes of Montezuma and her children Joe of Des Moines, Emma and Anne; and Scott (Holly) Dorsheimer of Lincoln, NE, and their sons Grant Coryell and Bryce; [Janis's] Tonia Shaw of Knoxville TN and son Jared and Eric (Jamie) Kunze of Panora, IA and their sons Tate and Taylor; and her great great grandchildren (Malesa's) Abrielle and Karstyn. Also left to mourn are her sister Elaine Crawford of Mesa, AZ; and her sisters-in-law, Dollie Elliott of Freeport, IL and Belma Dorsheimer of Griswold, IA.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Friends may call at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for visitation. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family with their arrangements.
