Lloyd H. Peck, the son of Herman and Hazel (Babb) Peck, was born March 6, 1928, on the family farm east of Elliott, IA. He died March 19, 2017, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA, at the age of 89 years, and 13 days.
Lloyd attended school at Elliott, graduating from Elliott High School in 1945. In 1951, he enlisted in the Army, where he built and maintained roads and railroads in Korea, during the war. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Elliott. Lloyd farmed his whole life. In addition to farming, Lloyd drove a school bus for 25 years and worked at Parker Hannifin in Red Oak for 14 years.
Lloyd was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church. He was a known animal lover, and had many pets around the farm. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Irene; and his sister Opal.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Bob Peck and wife Celeste of Griswold, Bill Peck and wife Diane of Council Bluffs, Russell Peck and wife Marcella of Atlantic, IA, and David Peck and wife Lisa of Elliott, IA; his grandchildren: Jeb, Hallie, Tess, Maggie, Carrie, Chelsey, Dan, Samantha, Lori, Whitney, Blake, Tanner, Ethan, and Rachel; fourteen great grandchildren; and his special friend Juanita Young of Carson, IA. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Elliott United Methodist Church in Elliott. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be in the Lowman Cemetery east of Elliott. Memorials may be given to the Elliot United Methodist Church. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
