Linda Marie Simons Koonce, age 76, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was born to the parents, Lewis Elmer Simons and Bonnie Ruth Roach in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Linda graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs in 1961. After graduation, she joined the Navy in 1961 and married Donald Eugene Koonce in 1963. They had four children: Patricia, Donna, Mark and Zane.

Linda was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Blind Veterans.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; her son, Mark Koonce; and her grandson, Kyle Selbe.

Linda is survived by her children: Patricia A. Selbe, Donna J. Chappell and her husband Ricky, and Zane L. Koonce; her siblings: Cyndy L. Haines and husband, Terry of Oakland, Iowa, Nancy J. Wedberg of Omaha, Nebraska, Toni R. Dorenkamp and husband Tom, of Fremont, Nebraska, Leslie Gleaves of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Laura L. Baller of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Lewis Fredrick Simons and fiancé Karen Long of Richmond, Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and her aunts and uncle: Frankie Larsen of Council Bluffs, Sandy Sweeny of Crescent, Iowa and Thomas Simons and wife Dorothy of Omaha, Nebraska.

The visitation and funeral service were held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on July 18, 2019. The family would like to invite you to join them for a light lunch and time of fellowship in the Oakland United Methodist Church basement at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 prior to the graveside service at 12:30 PM, at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.
