Lily Margaret Woods, the daughter of Elmer and Mable (Fox) Peck, was born November 17, 1922 at Elliott, IA and died July 3, 2013 at the Elmcrest Retirement Community in Harlan, IA at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 16 days.
Lily attended school in Elliott and graduated from Elliot High School with the class of 1940. On March 4, 1951 she was united in marriage to George Wayne Woods at Elliott. They Moved Northwest of Elliott where they farmed. Lily later worked at Mom's Café and then John's Café in Griswold. George died in 1988. Lily moved to Griswold in 1990 and then to Harlan in 2004.
Lily was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church. She had been very active on the farm, helping with the livestock and harvesting the crop. Lily was a very dedicated mother and never missed any of her children's activities.
Lily is preceded in death by her husband, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters Georgene Elaine Juhl and husband Jeff of Harlan, IA, and Lori Woods Shrum and husband Richard of Lawrence, KS; her grandchildren: Jackie Jene Baker and husband Matthew of Barnard, MO, Jennifer Lucille Sokolowski and husband Jake of Waverly, NE, James Wayne Juhl and wife Cheryl of Harlan, IA and Alexis Marie Smith of Lenexa, KS; her great grandchildren Josephine Baker and Kade Sokolowski; her brother Kenneth Peck and wife Dee; her sister-in-law Shirley Woods; her brother-in-law Frank Woods; and her cat, Kittie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Elliott United Methodist Church in Elliott. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Center Ridge Cemetery west of Elliott. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
