Lela Joanne Carlson's Obituary
Lela Joanne Carlson, the daughter of Basil and Jenelia (Bishop) Copenhaver, was born September 2, 1959. She died June 1, 2016 in Omaha, NE and the age of 56 years, 8 months, and 30 days.
Lela graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1977. She attended college for several years and graduated as a dental assistant. She worked as a dental assistant before taking time off from her career to raise her two boys, Brad and Aaron. After raising her family, Lela became a real estate agent and continued in that career until the time of her death.
Lela was a loving mother, grandma, wife, and sister. She loved life, people, and always had a positive attitude. She was known to be stubborn, yet forgiving, and never had an enemy. She was loved by many and if she didn't know you, she made you her friend. She lived by the saying "Why worry, it's a waste of time, everything is going to be OK".

She is preceded in death by her parents.
Lela is survived by her husband Jeff of Griswold, IA; her sons, Brad Bergren and wife Britni of Griswold and Aaron Bergren and special friend Ashley Bates of Lincoln, NE; her granddaughter Makynzi Bergren of Griswold, IA; and her sisters, Claudia Mullen of Griswold, IA and Colleen Hoye and husband Terry of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Untied Church of Christ, south of Lyman. Private family interment will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2-5 PM at the Griswold Community Building. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
