Laurence Floyd "Bud" Taylor

Laurence Floyd "Bud" Taylor, the son of Laurence F. and Ruby L. Robinson, was born May 23, 1932 at Oakland, IA and died July 2, 2014 at his home in Oakland, IA at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 10 days.

Bud attended school at Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1950. After graduating be became employed at Northern Natural Gas. In October of 1952, Bud was drafted into the Army and served his country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Oakland and continued working for Northern Natural Gas. On July 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Peggy Lucille Dorscher. Three Children were born to this union: Daniel, Jo Ellyn, and Rhonda. Bud and Peggy lived in Oakland and he continued to work for Northern until he retired after 42 years of service.

Bud was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Oakland V.F.W. #5949, and a member of the Oakland Fire and Rescue. He was an avid sports fan, and could be seen at all of his children's activities and then his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and feeding and watching birds. Bud liked to travel and visit the casino. Bud especially loved spending time with his family.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Janice Schellenberg.

He is survived by his wife Peggy of Oakland; his children Daniel Taylor and wife Carol of Shenandoah, IA, Jo Ellyn Miller and husband Craig of Council Bluffs, IA, and Rhonda Crumley and husband Mark of Oakland, IA; his grandchildren: Karen Taylor, Brant Miller and wife Angela, Shanna Baker and husband Jordan, Alissa Crumley, and Andrew Crumley; his great grandchildren: Austin Taylor, Chase Sherwood, Braxton Miller, and Lucas Baker; his step grandchildren Chris Shelton and wife Paula, Casey Shelton and wife Amy, and Beth Silversteine and husband Seth; his step great grandchildren: Blake, Cassidy, and Kayla Shelton, Austin and Mackensie Mays, and Max, Sam, and Greyson Silversteine; and his sisters: Donna Rourick of Atlantic, IA, Mary Ann Conger of Enid, OK, and Janene Ray and husband Glenn of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Oakland Christian Church. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Oakland Christian Church. A memorial fund has been established in Bud's name. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
