Larry Gene Wagner


Larry Gene Wagner, the son of George and Ramona (Wulff) Wagner, was born January 13, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and died July 2, 2012 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, Iowa at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 19 days.


Larry graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1957. He helped on the family farm and then began working for Union Pacific Railroad switching cars. After the death of his father, Larry began farming full time with his brother near Minden. He moved to Elliott, IA and lived and farmed there until 2000 when he moved to Council Bluffs. He moved to Griswold in 2003, and remained there until he moved to the Oakland Manor Nursing Home last November.


Larry was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold. He loved anything to do with horses.


Larry is preceded in death by his parents.


He is survived by his children Shawn Wagner of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Beth Renaud and husband Curtof Atlantic, Iowa; his grandchildren Alicia and Cyle; and his brother David and wife Sue of Oakland. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Interment of Asheswill be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. Visitation with the family will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland, following the services at the cemetery until 7:00 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
