Larry Lee Kirkpatrick
Larry Lee Kirkpatrick, the son of Willis and Irene (Fenningsmeyer) Kirkpatrick, was born May 9, 1946 in Omaha, NE and died December 11, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 2 days.
Larry attended grade school at Walnut Grove in Council Bluffs, and then graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1965. He was drafted into the army and served his country during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Council Bluffs where he worked at Future Foam, Inc. On November 12, 1971 he was united in marriage to Meloria Faye Kelley. They lived in Council Bluffs until 1990, when they moved to Oakland. Larry began working for Nebraska Furniture Mart in 2004 and worked there until he retired in 2012.
Larry enjoyed chopping wood and woodworking. He was known for making delicious oatmeal cookies and fried chicken. He especially loved spending time with his family, whether it was "pizza and a movie Saturday" or "fried chicken Sunday".
He is survived by his wife Lori of Oakland; his children: Guy Allen Kirkpatrick and his wife Pam of Omaha, NE, David Lee Kirkpatrick of Plattsmouth, NE, and Lois Jane Anne of Oakland, IA; his grandchildren: Megan Ann Kirkpatrick, Zachery Lee Kirkpatrick; and Loretta May McKee; and his brother Alvin Guthrie Kirkpatrick of Council Bluffs, IA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Interment will be at Belknap Cemetery West of Oakland. There will be no visitation. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
