Larry D. Allen, the son of Jack and Donetta Allen, was born May 29, 1945, in Council Bluffs, IA. Larry died April 28, 2026, at his home in Carson, IA, at the age of 80 years.
Larry attended school and graduated from Carson High School. He attended Morningside College for a short time, majoring in music and was also in the Army National Guard. On September 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to Janel Marie Anderson at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Council Bluffs, IA. Five children were born to this union: Kim, Barb, Becky, Sandy, and Kevin. They lived in Carson and operated the Carson Machinery Auction Company for many years. He raised cattle, had horse production sales, and sold items at the Farmers Market.
Larry enjoyed music and was the lead singer in a band in his early years. He was a supporter of the Carson PRCA Rodeo, and Carson High School Rodeo for many years. Larry enjoyed gardening and always planted enough for the whole community of Carson. He enjoyed going to sporting events and his yearly fishing trip to Canada with his friends.
Larry is survived by his children: Kim Frain and husband Darrell of Carson, IA; Barb Masters and husband Todd of Leon, IA; Becky Harsch and friend Rob Olson of Lebo, KS; Sandy Smith and husband Brent of Winterset, IA; and Kevin Allen of Underwood, IA. He is also survived by sister-in-law Anna Allen of Macedonia, IA, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; his parents-in-law, Bob and Lucille Anderson; brother Randy Allen; sister Linda Johnson; son-in-law John Harsch; and great-grandson Parker Gil Copper.
Larry's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at noon, at the Carson Community Building in Carson. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service, at the Carson Community Building. Interment will be in the Carson Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
