Obituary

LaDonna Lea Applegate, the daughter of Albert and Sarah (Boren) Olsen, was born May 11, 1938 in Council Bluffs, IA. She died February 6, 2017 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

LaDonna is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ardythe Leaders; and her grandson, Joshua Applegate.


She is survived by her husband Don of Oakland; her sons: Doug Applegate and wife Kathy, Dave Applegate and wife Shelia, and Dean Applegate and wife Amy, all of Oakland; her grandchildren: Brent and wife Brittany, Luke and wife Kate, Dustin and wife Teresa, Derek, Collin, Taylor, and Mandy; her great grandchildren: Tristan, Paisley, Maximus, Gabriel, and another on the way; her sisters Rosalie Soloth and husband Bob of McClelland, IA and Janet Tiarks and husband Roy of Council Bluffs, IA; and her brother Leo Olsen of Treynor, IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.


Funeral services will be on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening at the Oakland United Methodist Church from 5-8 PM. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
