Obituary

Kent Roger Muller was born in Atlantic, Iowa, on April 2, 1942, to Willard and Gladys (Retz) Muller.  He was the eldest of three sons.

He attended Noble Center country school until 8 th grade and graduated salutatorian from Griswold High School in 1960.  While majoring in Animal Science at Iowa State University, Kent was an active member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.  He graduated from ISU in 1964.  After graduation, Kent spent four years traveling and working between Aspen, Colorado, and Mexico. He eventually joined his father on the family farm.  He spent his life in agriculture and transportation businesses - farming, raising cattle, raising hogs and buying and selling hogs -first with his two brothers and eventually with his son Jon Kelly.

He was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, the Cass County Cattlemen, and the Elks Lodge in Atlantic.  He served on the boards of Nishna Valley Recreation Area and Griswold Community Schools. A generous man, Kent donated meat for years to the Open Door Mission in Omaha, Nebraska, and Mohm's Place in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

With his family by his side, Kent passed away on December 31, 2016, at Cass County Memorial Hospital after a year-long courageous battle with bile duct cancer.

Kent is survived by his wife, Janis (Breckerbaumer) Muller of Griswold; sons: Nicholas Muller and his companion, Lori Simpson, of Atlantic  and Jon Kelly (Maggie) Muller of Griswold; daughters: Bethany (Nathan) Koch of Iowa City, Misty (Theodore) Johnson of Runnells, Jill (Matthew) Huebsch of Wilmette, Illinois, and Meagan (Nathan) Ross of Atlantic;  and his beloved grandchildren: Abigail and Jack Muller; Clara, Lucy and Isabelle Muller; Emma, Audrey and Jacob Koch; Bruce, Margaret, Max and Ellen Johnson; Zackary, Alex and Zoey Huebsch; and Brody and Olivia Ross. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Gary and Jackie Muller of Mesa, Arizona, and Wendell and Connie Muller of Massena; his father and mother-in-law, Randall and Sharon Breckerbaumer of Atlantic; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
