Kenneth E. Schuler, the son of Harold Victor and Evelyn Margaret (Cocklin) Schuler, was born March 26, 1922 at Lyman, IA and died September 21, 2013 at the Griswold Care Center at Griswold, IA, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 26 days.
Kenneth attended Wasmer Country Grade School in Noble Township, before graduating from Atlantic High School. On May 10, 1942 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Crum. Kenneth worked as a civilian airplane mechanic at Wright Patterson Base in Ohio during WWII. After the war, he returned to Iowa. In 1945 they moved to Oakdale, CA where he worked in the dairy industry until 1948. He then returned to the Lyman area where he farmed and operated a dairy. He also worked as a commercial trucker, and was an inventive welder and repair person since 1949.
Kenneth was a member of the Noble Center Church. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, fishing, camping, and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, his brother Murray, and his granddaughter Kristi.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Lyman, IA; his children: Wayne Schuler and wife Karen of Council Bluffs, IA, Douglas Schuler and wife Yvonne Schuler of Tampa, FL, Keith Schuler and wife Sandy of Des Moines, IA, Janet Porter and husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV, and Susan Eberly and husband Terry of Clarinda, IA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five and a half great grandchildren; and his brothers Dorland and Duane Schuler of Lyman, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM the Noble Center Church south of Lyman. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Tuesday. The family will be present from 6-8 PM. Interment will be in the Noble Center Cemetery. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
