Kayleen Amos, 21, of rural Cumberland, IA, died Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011, as a result of a rollover accident on Contrail RD north of Highway 92 in Pottawattamie County.
Kayleen Elizabeth Amos was born in Atlantic, IA, on December 31, 1989, the first daughter of Jeffrey Allen and Patrice Kay (Boos) Amos. She attended schools in Griswold and graduated in 2008. She attended Dana College in Blair, NE, for one year and Nebraska Christian College in Papillion, NE, for one year and has worked various jobs, most recently for Amos Family Produce. She was also a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Kayleen loved music and was active in the music programs during high school and college and had toured with the Southwest Iowa Honor Choir and the New Way Singers. She enjoyed poetry and wrote many poems. She liked origami and enjoyed working with and interacting with people. She had many nicknames including "Kid-o" and "Goober." Kayleen was a member of the Central Church of Christ and growing up was active in 4-H. Kayleen's giving spirit will live on through her tissue donation with the Iowa Donor Network.
She was preceded in death by several great grandparents and her uncle Mitchel Boos.
Survivors include her parents Jeff and Patti Amos of Griswold; her three sisters Maggi, Kasi, and Marie of Griswold; her maternal grandmother Sharon Boos of Griswold; her maternal grandfather Cecil Boos of Cumberland, her paternal grandparents Milton and Laura Amos of Griswold, and her paternal great- grandparents, Clarence and Lillian Landis of Griswold.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold at 10:30 AM, Aaron Albus officiating. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Open visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold until noon on Friday and then at the Central Church of Christ with the family present from 5:30 until 7:30.
