Obituary

Karen Darleen Krisinger, the daughter of Lyle and Sally (Hudnall) Bradley, was born May 30, 1936, in Ventura, CA.  She died July 9, 2020, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE, at the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 10 days.

Karen lived in Thousand Oaks, CA, where she graduated from elementary school at Conejo School, with a Good Citizenship Award for voluntary work in the community.  She was a member of the Brownie and Intermediate Girl Scouts of America.  She graduated from Oxnard Union High School in 1954, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.  After graduating, she moved to Oxnard, CA, where she worked at Port Hueneme Naval Base.  She met Gilbert "Gib" Krisinger on a blind date, and they were united in marriage on April 14, 1956.  They moved to Griswold, IA, and lived in Griswold, until they purchased a farm across from the Apple Orchard, West of town.  Karen worked as a Teacher's Aide at Griswold Elementary School, where she worked with the 4 th grade and served as a Blue Bird Troop Leader.  She also worked at Ted Houser's Greenhouse and as a clerk at Ruth's Style Shop.  After selling the farm in 1975, they moved to their home on Adams Street in Griswold.  They then purchased the Anderson farm South of the Apple Orchard where they farmed in partnership with Terry Whiley.

Karen was a member of the Griswold United Methodist Church, where she was secretary of the United Methodist Women's Morning Circle group.  She especially enjoyed serving on their Cookie Committee, organizing the volunteer workers in sending out cookie boxes to the military and college students, and giving fresh fruit to local shut ins.  Karen had been a leader of a Girl Scout Troop, retiring as a South West Iowa Leader Trainer.  Karen was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and had served for more than 50 years, being awarded the Silver Tray Award and the two highest national awards of the Thanks Badge I and the Thanks Badge II.  Karen was the last living member of the Care Center Auxiliary, serving as the president until the time of her death.
