Judy Bates, born January 31, 1944, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026.

Judy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She leaves behind two children, Chris Cocklin and Cindy Williams, who will forever cherish the love, and memories she gave them.

Judy was a busy grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, along with four bonus great-grandchildren who also held a special place in her heart. Her family continues to grow, with one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Though she made her home in Arizona for more than 30 years, Judy wished to be laid to rest in Iowa, near the family members she had lovingly remembered and mourned.  Her interment will be at a later date in Whipple Cemetery.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Interment of cremated remains will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Whipple Cemetery.  Lunch with the family will follow the interment, at Cocklin Fish Farm, north of Griswold.  Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
