Joyce Maureen Henry, the daughter of Curtis Esther and Mildred Delores (Addison) Kelsay, was born July 31, 1937 in Oakland, IA. She died February 25, 2017 at her home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 25 days.
Joyce attended school at Oakland, graduating with the class of 1955. On June 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to Fred G. Henry at the Oakland United Methodist Church. They owned and operated Henry Well Company, where Joyce was very active in the daily operations. Joyce retired from Henry Well Company in 1995. After retiring, Joyce enjoyed becoming a full time grandmother to her grandchildren. Joyce lived at home until the time of her death.
Joyce was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. She had been active in P.E.O., Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and TLC Mothers Club. Joyce enjoyed traveling in their R.V. and taking the grandchildren on trips. Joyce liked working in her yard, cleaning her house, baking chocolate star cookies, and shopping. Most of all, Joyce loved being a grandmother, mother, and wife.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her step mother Nina Kelsay; and her brother Curtis.
She is survived by her husband Fred G. Henry of Oakland, IA; her children: Debbie Rollins and husband Paul of Oakland, IA, Fred S. Henry and wife Gayla of Oakland, IA, John Henry and wife Peggy of Papillion, NE, and Susie Hemphill and husband Dan of Gretna, NE; her grandchildren: Kara, Kim, Katie, Andy, Molly, Grant, Wes, Alex, Abby, Cale, Camie, Austin, Miles, and Carmel; fourteen great grandchildren; her sisters, Helen Scholtes and husband Jerry of Valencia, CA, and Marilyn Hebing and husband Mike of Oakland, IA; her brothers, Delbert Kelsay and wife Pauline of Burlington, IA, and Craig Kelsay of Sun Land, CA; and her sister Fern Kelsay of Fayetteville, AR. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. A P.E.O. service will be held on Tuesday evening 5:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church followed by visitation with the family until 7:00 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
