Joseph Carlton Ihde, the son of Carlton and Margaret (Lyon) Ihde, was born on January 19, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. He died on May 12, 2016 at Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Joseph lived in a suburb of Chicago until eight years of age, he then moved to Le Grand, Iowa where he attended LDF High School and graduated in 1973. He and Debra were married in 1974 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillon, Iowa. They lived in Montour, Iowa until 1986 when they moved to Oakland. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and then for the Illinois Central Railroad as a carman and train master.
Joseph loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, play his keyboard, listen to all kinds of music, share You Tube Videos with his grandchildren, and share trivia with the general population.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Debra; children Sarah Messerschmidt and husband Andrew, Jennifer Perkins and husband Jeremy, both of Oakland; grandchildren: Kate, Nathan, Keaton and Kaycie; his sister Catherine Coppock and husband Richard; brothers Peter, Matthew and wife Kristi, Samuel, Benjamin and wife Bonnie, Joshua and wife Amy, and Gideon Ihde; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Oakland United Methodist Church from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Oakland United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
