Jon Marsh, age 67, passed away at his home north of Red Oak on February 5, 2011. He was born on December 20 at Red Oak, IA, the son of Milburn "Mel" and Marie Marsh of Grant, Iowa.

Jon graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, he attended Creston Community College for a semester. When he was 17, he joined the Air Force. He took basic training at Lockland Air Force Base in Denver, CO. He was stationed in Oklahoma for a year and then Okinawa where he loaded bombs onto B-52s bound for Vietnam. He served there for three years and was honorably discharged. He worked for the Red Oak Express in the printing room for a few years, and then for AT&T at the Coburg stations, until they shut down. He then worked as a parts man in Macedonia for a few years. During this time he also farmed in the Grant and Red Oak area. AT&T called him back to work in Omaha, where he retired when he was age 58. He then continued to farm.

Jon was preceded in death by his Barents Milburn and Marie Marsh, his first wife Janet Brink, his infant son Jay Jay, his Uncle Ralph Marsh of Council Bluffs, and his great aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his brother, James and wife Norma; his ex-wife Sue Marsh; two stepsons, Troy Williams and wife Kati of Omaha, NE and Derek Williams and wife Stacy of Nevada, IA; his grandchildren Kelsay and Tate Williams of Omaha, NE and Fletcher Williams of Nevada, IA; his nieces Amy (Marsh) Muse and husband Jared of Manhattan, KS, and Ann (Marsh) Ross and husband Matt of Bellevue, NE; his great nephews Alex, Zachary, and Xavier; and his great niece Gabrielle Ross. He is also survived by many cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Rev Terry McClain officiating. Interment will be at the Atlantic Cemetery. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold with the family present from 5:30-7:00 PM on Tuesday. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
