Joan Elizabeth Scofield, the daughter of Fay and Nancy "Pauline" (Perdue) Braden, was born July 16, 1945, in Atlantic, IA. Joan died Nov 10, 2023, at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 25 days.
Joan graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1963. She had worked as a school bus driver, for Schueman Transfer, BC Brokerage, and Citizen's State Bank/Arbor Bank. On November 2, 1990, she was united in marriage to Gerald "Skip" Scofield in Oakland, IA.
Joan was a member of the Oakland Christian Church. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, listening to music, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to shop, working in her garden, and taking care of her flowers. She loved the beach and being around the lakes and ocean. She liked decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Bob Williams; nephew Scott Williams; and parents-in-law, Ervin and Cara Mae.
She is survived by her husband Gerald "Skip" Scofield of Oakland, IA; her children: Todd Hebing and wife Claudia of Galena, MO, Trent Hebing and wife Sheila of Lampe, MO, Tasha Danker and husband Kelly of Oakland, IA, Jami Scofield and wife Tina of Kansas City, MO, and Tami Scofield of Las Cruces, NM; her sisters: Janet Williams of Omaha, NE, Judy Fenster of Omaha, NE, and Patti Callahan and husband Mike of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren: Eric Adams and wife Heather, Adam Hebing and wife Jenna, Hannah, and Ethan Henderson, Kaiden Perdue, and Logan and Kayli Scofield; her great grandchildren, Maddie Jo and Ashlyn Hebing and Riley, Kennedy Adams, and Jacob Henderson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of life visitation will be held at the Oakland Community Building on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 2-4 PM. A private family interment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
