Joan Bartlett, the daughter of Homer and Bonnie (Puryear) Johns, was born August 4, 1924 on the family farm east of Oakland, IA. She died August 27, 2015 at her home in Oakland, IA at the age of 91 years and 23 days.

Joan attended country school and then graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1942. In 1947, Joan and Kenneth drove his bike to Denver, CO where they were united in marriage. They lived in Oakland and Joan worked at the library for several years. Kenneth died June 11, 2009. Joan continued to live at home until the time of her death.

Joan was a longtime member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and the UMW. She had been a member of Eastern Star and P.E.O. She enjoyed traveling and reading. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; her son Thomas; her parents; and her sister Judith.
