Obituary

Janet Faye Williams, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on August 13, 1939 to Fay Braden and Nancy Pauline Purdue Braden in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Janet was raised in Oakland, Iowa with her sisters. Janet married Robert Williams on October 11, 1957, in Iowa, beginning a partnership that spanned 59 years until his passing. Together, they enjoyed a shared love of travel, often exploring new destinations in the United States.  Janet also loved traveling internationally with friends. Janet was known among her friends for her voracious reading habit, completing books with remarkable speed and enthusiasm.

Her personality was marked by a steadfast commitment to her church community and a profound appreciation for time spent with her sisters. Though Janet’s family circle included several deceased loved ones—including her father Fay Braden, mother Nancy Pauline Purdue Braden, husband Robert Williams, son Scott, sister Joan Scofield, and her twin sister Judith Braden—her legacy is vibrantly carried forward by her surviving family. Janet is lovingly remembered by her son Craig and his wife Marcia, her daughter Kristina, her sister Patti Callahan and husband Mike, grandchildren Kelle Macke (Nick) and Bailey Mittermeier (Josh), as well as great-grandchildren Braden, Brooklyn, Landon, and Isla. Additionally, many nieces, nephews, and friends hold her memory dear.

A private service will be held at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
