Darlene "Janet" Noll, the daughter of Vernon McDade and Gladys Irene (Winterstein) Shultz, was born June 28, 1935 at her family's home West of Griswold and died September 10, 2011 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, at the age of 75 years.
Janet attended school at Griswold and was a drum majorette for the Griswold High School Band. She graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1953. After graduating, she attended college at Simpson for several years. Janet moved to Colorado before moving to California, where she worked for the FBI and then Pan Am Airlines. Janet married Douglas Noll in 1959 and they moved to Alaska. Janet returned to California before going back to Griswold. She lived and worked in several different locations including Omaha, Red Oak, and Las Vegas before permanently settling in Griswold in 1991. She had most recently worked for Home Care Hospice in Atlantic before retiring. Janet lived in Griswold until the time of her death.
Janet enjoyed writing poetry, reading, music, painting, and sculpting. She adored her family and loved spending time with them, especially over a great meal. Janet also had a special place in her heart for her cat Cheryl.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James.
She is survived by her son Michael Noll and wife Sue of Griswold; her grandchildren Windy Smith and husband Ryan of Griswold, and Corey Noll of Omaha; her great grandchildren, Nollan and Grayson Smith; and her cousins Karla, Virginia Lee, Rhonda, Joy, Shirley, Steven, and Sandy.
A memorial service will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM. Friends may call on the family at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:30 PM until the time of the memorial service. Interment will take place at a later date.
