Janel Marie Allen, the daughter of Bob and Lucille (Tiarks) Anderson, was born July 16, 1945, in Council Bluffs, IA.  Janel died surrounded by her loving family, September 27, 2024, at her home in Carson, IA, at the age of 79 years, 2 months, and 11 days.

Janel attended country school until the eighth grade and then graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1963. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  On September 2, 1967, Janel was married to Larry Allen at St. John's United Church of Christ in Council Bluffs, IA.  Five children were born to this union:  Kim, Barb, Becky, Sandy, and Kevin.  Janel stayed home to raise their family and then later returned to work as an RN at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.  Janel and Larry owned Carson Machinery and Auction, where Janel worked on "sale days" and as needed.  They raised horses and cattle for many years.

Janel loved to spend time with her family.  She was a constant attendee at all of her children's and grandchildren's events.

Janel is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Lucille Anderson; parents-in-law, Jack and Donnie Allen; brother-in-law Randy Allen; sister-in-law Linda Johnson; son-in-law John Harsch; and great grandson Parker Gil Copper.

She is survived by her husband Larry Allen of Carson, IA; children: Kim Frain and husband Darrell of Carson, IA, Barb Masters and husband Todd of Leon, IA, Becky Harsch of Lebo, KS, Sandy Smith and husband Brent of Winterset, IA, and Kevin Allen of Underwood, IA; sister-in-law Anna Allen of Macedonia, IA; 18 grandchildren; 10 plus great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at the Carson Community Building in Carson.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Carson Community Building in Carson.  Interment will be in the Carson Cemetery.  Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
