Rev. James Hansen, born on June 20, 1942, in Seattle, WA, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 82 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA. He was the beloved son of Louis and Ethel Hansen and was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Suzanne McGinley.

James graduated from Seattle Pacific College and Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and was ordained into the Christian ministry in 1968. He dedicated his life to serving churches across Kansas, Washington, Minnesota, Idaho, and Iowa. Most recently, he was the pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Massena, following his pastorate at St. John's United Church of Christ of rural Griswold.

He is survived by one nephew and three nieces.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at St. John's Cemetery south of Lyman. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family during this time.
