Ilene Lucy Smith's Obituary
Ilene Smith was born in Griswold, Iowa to Donald and Gwendoline Wright on May 24, 1930. She died November 8, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 15 days.
Ilene attended school in Oakland, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1948. She was united into marriage on February, 15, 1959 to Orville Smith at Lignite, North Dakota. They moved to Bellevue, Nebraska. On December 14, 1966 they adopted two brothers, Jeff and Gregg.
In 1974, the family moved to Casper, Wyoming. Ilene worked for the school district for 20 years. Their son Gregg was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2003. They returned to Council Bluffs in July of 2004.
Ilene is preceded in death by her husband Orville in 2006; her son Gregg; her parents; and her sister Madeline Sivers.
Ilene is survived by nieces: Julie Sivers Hertzler and Emily Sivers Gatto and their familes; nephews-in-law Mike Smith and Richard Bundfuss; and a son Jeff Smith.
Memorials are suggested to the Council Bluffs Humane Society.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Oakland Community building in Oakland, IA. A reception with the family will follow the memorial service. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
