Ila Mae Ruppert, the daughter of George and Hilda (Schrader) Riedemann, was born in Noble Township, near Lyman, IA, January 6, 1929.  She died November 14, 2019, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA, at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 8 days.

Ila Mae attended country school before attending and graduating from Griswold High School, with the class of 1947.  On January 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Curtis Lee Ruppert in Griswold, IA.  They lived in Griswold, where Ila Mae worked in partnership with her husband at Griswold Oil Company, in the 1970's.  Ila then began working at the grocery store in Griswold.  Ila Mae worked there until she retired.  She continued to live in Griswold until the time of her death.

Ila Mae loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed embroidery, her collection of cookbooks,  going for coffee, and driving around Griswold in her car.

Ila Mae is preceded in death by her husband Curtis; her daughter Peggy Jo Creveling; her brother Maynard Riedemann; and her sister Ardes Peebles.

She is survived by her son Jim Ruppert and wife Carole of Corning, IA; her son-in-law Larry Creveling of Griswold, IA; her granddaughters, Nicole Epperson and husband Guy of Griswold, IA, and Kristie Behrens and husband Kirk of Council Bluffs, IA; her great grandchildren, Lorelei Behrens and Graigory Epperson; and her sister-in-law Susan Ruppert of Carson City, NV.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at 1:00 PM, at St. Johns Cemetery, south of Lyman.  Friends may meet at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold at noon on Tuesday, for a procession to the cemetery, at 12:45 PM.  Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
