Harold Otis Brunk's Obituary
Harold Otis Brunk, the son of Otis and Ellen (Bergstrom) Brunk, was born July 29, 1933 west of Griswold, IA. He died September 12, 2018, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 14 days.
Harold graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1951. After graduation he worked for Rodr Oil Company in Griswold. Harold and Marilyn Liddell were married on August 7, 1954. With this union three children were born, Brenda, Brian and Bruce. They lived in several different places in the Griswold area. They settled on the family farm in 1966, and farmed until 2008 when his sons took over the farming activities. He lived at home until May when he moved to the Griswold Care Center.
Harold was a 50 year member of Cass Lodge #412 A.F. & A.M. of Griswold. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, collecting coins (Silver Eagle Dollars) and little toy trucks. He had been a member of the Buckles and Bows Square Dance Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Doris and Joyce; and his son-in-law Craig Chamberlain.
Harold is survived by his wife Marilyn of Griswold; his children: Brenda Holtz and husband Roger of Elliott, Brian Brunk and wife Tammy of Griswold, and Bruce Brunk and wife Janet Mae of Griswold; his adopted son Stuart Chamberlain; his grandchildren: Damien, Brandi, Jenny, Alec, Ashley, Logan, and Marquel; and sixteen great grandchildren. Harold is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services for Harold Brunk will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Griswold Community Building in Griswold. Interment will be in the Lowman Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 5:30 until 7:30 at the Griswold Community Building. A masonic service will be at 7:30. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
