Gregory Hans Theede, the son of Charles Clarence and Neva Marie (Jensen) Theede, was born August 15, 1948 in Atlantic, IA and died July 2, 2014 at his home near Lewis, IA at the age of 65 years, 10 months, and 17 days.


Greg attended several schools in Atlantic before moving to the Griswold School District when he was a sophomore. He graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1966. On June 17, 1967 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Lue Kunze at the Lewis Church of Christ. They lived in Lewis and Greg worked at Atlantic Steel. In 1979, Greg and Jennifer moved to the farm. Greg began farming and also worked for Schuler Manufacturing. He retired from Schuler Manufacturing in 2012, after 30 years of service. Greg continued to farm until the time of his death.


Greg had a love for nature and the land and enjoyed farming. He cared deeply for his family. A highlight of the year was planning and preparing the annual "outback" wiener roast for them. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Lewis Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and on the church board. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and the mountains. He was an excellent all around handyman and will be missed by many. Greg's kindness and generosity will continue through his organ donation to the Iowa Donor Network.


Greg is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law Rod Kunze; and his brother-in-law Ed Kleen.


He is survived by his wife Jennifer of Lewis, IA; his children: Amy Gamble and husband Bill of Pleasant Hill, IA, Andrew Theede and husband Kevin Williams of Victor, NY, Aaron Theede and wife Erin of Norwalk, IA, and Adam Theede of Lewis, IA; his grandchildren: Roman Gamble and wife Bria; Wren Gamble, Logan Gamble, Joseph Theede, Ezekiel Theede, Imre Theede, and Avy Theede; his sisters, Barb Rehmeier and husband Ray, and Bev Dirks, and husband Duane; his brother-in-law Jeff Kunze and wife Janis; his mother-in-law Lila Kunze; and his beloved dog Dottie.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Lewis Church of Christ. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Monday. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 PM unit 7:30 PM. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
