Gloria Ann Olsen

Gloria Ann Olsen, the daughter of Marion and Lelia (Lile) Wolf, was born September 22, 1944 at Exira, IA and died March 31, 2011 at Oakland, IA at the age of 66 years.

Gloria attended school at Exira and after moving to Oakland, graduated from Oakland High School. On July 17, 1965, she was united in marriage to Larry Olsen. They lived in Hancock and Gloria worked at Oakland Manor Nursing Home. Gloria maintained her home until failing health caused her to move to the Oakland Manor Nursing Home.


Gloria had coached softball in Hancock. She loved to play cards and cook.


She is preceded in death by her daughter Darcey; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her brothers Donald and Gerald Wolf; her sisters Vivian Munch, Juanita Christiansen and Phyllis Krueger.


She is survived by her husband Larry of Oakland; her children: Vicky Austin, Cindy Ackerman and Jason Olsen; her grandchildren: Shawna, Katie, Ashley, and Darci; her great grandchild Evan Burnell; her brothers Arnold Wolf of Shelby, NC, and Ronald Wolf of Boise, ID; her sister Ethel Smith of Atlantic, IA; her brother-in-law Gene Olsen of Hancock, IA; and her sister-in-law Leta Mae Houghland of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Hancock United Methodist Church. Rev. Melissa Drake. Interment will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or viewing at the funeral home. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
