Geraldine Kathryn (Killion) Nelson   2-24-1917 to 6-9-2019.

Geraldine passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, June 9, 2019 at the age of 102.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dee and Cassie Killion, her two sisters, Wynona Wearin and Phyllis Hilder, and by her husband, James Nelson. She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Keith Nelson; her three grandchildren: Erika, Andrea and Paul; and five great-grandchildren: Frisco, Colton and Emerson Jones, and Zoey and Grayson Richardson.

Geraldine grew up in a farming family in Iowa, graduated from Griswold High School in 1934 where she played women's basketball, then moved to Omaha, Nebraska to go to business school and then began her working career before going into the NAVY WAVES in 1943. She was married in 1946 to James Nelson, also a WWII vet, in Omaha, Nebraska.

While in the WAVES during WWII, she became close to nine other gals as bunk mates, and through the years had kept in touch with them with a round robin letter and an occasional reunion. She stayed active in her local WAVES groups in Tucson and Mesa, Arizona, and also her American Legion Locals.

Geraldine was a five-star woman, wife and mother, and her heart was filled with giving, loving and serving. She had many caring friends and a family that loved her dearly.

She will truly be missed.
