G eraldine Jean "Jeri" O'Dell, the daughter of Victor and Myrtle (Penry) Hilliard, was born July 14, 1941, in Henderson, IA. She died September 14, 2019, at the Hansen House in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 78 years and 2 months.

Jeri graduated from Henderson High School. In 1959, she was united in marriage to Raymond O'Dell. They lived in Griswold where Jeri worked at several different jobs including: the video store, the flowers shop, and the diner. Raymond died June 4, 1990. Jeri continued to live in Griswold until recently, when she moved to Atlantic and then to Council Bluffs.

Jeri was a member of the Griswold Central Church of Christ, TOPS, and the Legion Auxiliary. She was known as being strong and independent. She enjoyed gardening and cats.

Jeri is preceded in death by her husband; her sons, William and Ryan; her parents; her sister Vicky; and her daughter-in-law Carman.

She is survived by her son Shannon O'Dell and wife Debora of Griswold; her grandson Ian; her brothers, Larry and Ken Hilliard; and her sisters, Ramona Sellers and Verna Hilliard-Evans.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Griswold Central Church of Christ.  Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Flint Cemetery.  Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
