George William Clark was born December 23, 1934 near Griswold, Iowa. He was the son of Ray Everett Clark and Maxine Laura Rockwell Clark. To this union were also born Ramona Pearl Clark and Gilbert Lee Clark. George was a member of the Griswold Church of Christ. At the age of 11, his father died. His mother later married Darwin W. Goltry, who raised the children as his own. To this union, Darlene Janice was born. The family farmed in the Griswold, Red Oak, and Macedonia areas. George graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked for Emil Johnson Construction in Red Oak, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorary discharge with Good Conduct Medal in 1959. Following his discharge from the army, George with his brother Gilbert and several high school friends drove to California seeking jobs. George worked for Northrup Grumman Aircraft Corporation as an aviation mechanic. He worked on the construction of the Stealth Bomber and other aircrafts. He retired from Northrup due to work-related health issues, after more than 25 years.
George loved cars and speed. He was generous to any friend in need. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting, winning local and area awards for marksmanship. He was proud of his ancestral connection to the famous explorer William Rogers Clark. He started a business, Buckshot Engineering, out of his home in Montebello, California, where he manufactured custom adjustable re-coil pads.
In March of 2015, George was forced by declining health, to move to a Cypress California convalescent home. He died there on February 8, 2016.
