Gary Gene Ruhl, the son of Jack and Nadine (Westerlund) Ruhl, was born March 22, 1957, in Creston, IA.  Gary died March 1, 2022, at his home southeast of Griswold, IA, at the age of 64 years.

Gary attended school at Grant and Elliott, before graduating from Griswold High School with the class of 1975.  While in High School, he worked at P and B Filling Station in Grant.  On June 18, 1977, he was united in marriage to Zoe Ann Miller at Pilot Grove Park.  Gary worked at American Builders for 15 years, and then Steinbeck and Sons for 5 years, before taking a job with Shildbergs Rock Quarry.

Gary loved spending time with his family and his dog Gunther.  He had served on the Grant Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Gary is preceded in death by his daughter Britney Ruhl; his parents; his brother Allen Ruhl; and his sister Nancy Ruhl.

He is survived by his wife Zoe Ruhl; his daughter Misty Adams and husband Brandon; his grandchildren: Shelby, Jenna, Abbi, and Brook; his brother Lyle Ruhl; his sister-in-law Becky DuBois; his brother-in-law Nathan Miller and wife Missy; and his nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his other relatives and many friends.

A visitation for Gary will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 2-4 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold.  Interment will be at a later date.  Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
