Esther Helen Eickholt, the daughter of Abe and Edna Irene (Strong) Rose, was born June 26, 1940. She died August 26, 2023, at her home in Carson, IA, at the age of 83 years and 2 months.
Esther attended school in Carson, graduating from Carson High School with the class of 1958. She married Ron Waterfield, and two daughters were born, Rhonda and Trudy. She and Ron lived in several different places before Esther moved back to Carson. After returning to Carson, Esther began working at First National Bank of Omaha. On February 5, 1985, Esther was united in marriage to Walter Eickholt in Las Vegas, NV. Esther continued to work at First National Bank of Omaha, until her retirement. She lived in Carson until the time of her death.
Esther was a member of the Carson Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday School. She enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, and shopping at Hobby Lobby. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; great grandson Hunter Burns; and her siblings: Harold, Ilene, Carol, Shirley, Dorothy, Anna, Bonnie, and David.
Esther is survived by her husband Walter Eickholt of Carson; daughters, Rhonda Batten and Trudy Hodges, both of Carson, IA; her grandchildren, Brittney Burns and Abby Bruning, both of Carson, IA; her best friend for 78 years, Karen Gravett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Carson Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at the Carson Community Building. A memorial fund is being established in Esther's name. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
