Obituary

Errol Lee Perdue, the son of Robert and Hazel (Collins) Perdue, was born May 15, 1924. He died August 23, 2016 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 8 days.

Errol graduated from Griswold High School in 1942 and then enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged he returned to Griswold to continue farming. Errol and Lola were married July 17, 1947. To this union three children were born: Linda, Richard, and Kenneth. Errol and Lola moved from the farm to Griswold in 2011. They were married 68 years before her death on February 11, 2016.



He is preceded in death by his wife Lola; his parents; sister Roberta; and his grandchildren Amanda Asche and Matthew Perdue.


He is survived by his daughter Linda Shields and husband David of Sioux Falls, SD; his sons, Richard Perdue and wife Katherine of Columbus, NE and Kenneth Perdue and wife Catherine of Griswold, IA; his grandchildren: Steve Shields and Susan Halvorson and husband Adam of Colorado, Sandra Leighton and husband Matthew and John Perdue of Griswold, IA, and Brittany Perdue and Bryan Asche of Columbus, NE; his great grandson Ryder Perdue of Griswold, IA; his sister Audrey Williams of Lake City, IA; sister-in-law Myra Hansen of Griswold, IA; and his honorary granddaughter Kori Leighton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Griswold United Methodist Church.  Vistitation with the family will be Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold.  Memorials are suggested to te Griswold Dollars for Scholars or The United Methodist Church Campers Fund. Interment will be in the Flint Cemetery west of Griswold. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
