Elva "Mae" Forsyth, 83, of Maryville, MO, formerly of Burlington Junction, MO, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Golden Living Care Center in Maryville.
Elva Mae Shipley Jones Forsyth was born on August 17, 1926 at Skidmore, MO, the daughter of Elva Franklin and Mattie Mae (Kelley) Shipley. She attended grade school at Quitman and Burlington Junction and graduated from Burlington Junction High School. Mae was united in marriage to Byron C. Jones on July 2, 1944 at Santa Monica, CA and they made their home in Colorado for thirty years and then moved to Missouri. Byron passed away July 14, 1978. Mae was then united in marriage to Rev. Ray Forsyth at Skidmore, MO, on July 27, 1981. She with her husband served United Methodist Churches of the Missouri West Annual Conference, moving to Burlington Junction after Ray's retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Burlington Junction United Methodist Church.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, her grandsons Vaughn Lee Jones and Byron Jay Ryan, her granddaughter Renee Lyn Lowe, her son-in-law Richard Weaklend, her brother Ivol T. Shipley Sr. and her brothers-in-law Jimmie Sheridan and Richard Glasgo.
Left to survive her passing are her husband Ray of Burlington Jct.; three sons, Ronnie Dean Jones of Adams City, CO, Charles Robert Jones of Northglenn, CO, and David LeRoy Jones of Erie, CO; two daughters, Dorothea Weaklend of Osceola, IA, and Lillian Marie Custer of Oroville, CA; three brothers William (Lou) Shipley of Columbia, SC, Bert (Fonda) Shipley of Shenandoah, IA, and Don (Wava) Shipley of Percival, IA; four sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Kempf of Hallsville, MO, Georgia Sheridan of Maryville, MO, Judy (Max) Nelson of Bethany, MO, and Terry Glasgo of Branson, MO, and sister-in-law Rosemary Shipley of Burlington Jct. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Burlington Junction United Methodist Church in Burlington Junction, on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 2:00 PM. Private burial of cremated remains will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis, IA. Memorials are to be directed to the Burlington Jct. United Methodist Church.
