Elsie Marie Hackett, the daughter of Wayne and Mary (Crossman) Carter, was born May 24, 1920 in Grand Junction, IA and died March 12, 2014 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 16 days.
Elsie attended school at Grand Junction.
After graduation, she worked for the army as a plane dispatcher at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for several years, before returning to Grand Junction.
On October 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to John Morley.
She lived in Grand Junction until the 1970's when she moved to Oakland.
On June 20, 1987, she was united in marriage to Dale Hackett.
Dale died January 25, 2008.
Elsie continued to live in Oakland until the time of her death.
Elsie loved cooking, baking, reading, working with flowers, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her first husband John Morley; her second husband Dale Hackett; her parents; her brother Jack; and her sisters, Velma and Midge.
She is survived by her daughters Marianne Morley and Judy Klocksiem and husband John; her grandchildren: Karly Winter and husband Shawn, Stephanie Klemme and husband Mike, Katie Klocksiem, Melissa Kloksiem, and Mike Hackett and wife Gina; her great grandchildren, Ella, Ava, Olivia and Kennedy; and her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland.
Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
