Dorothy Margaret (Rife) Rounds, the daughter of David and Margaret (Fox) Rife, was born March 18, 1930 at Mondamin, IA and passed on May 28, 2013 at her daughter and son-in-law's farm, west of Carson, IA at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
Dorothy attended school at Mondamin. On July 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Marvin Rounds. They lived in Mondamin until the time of his death on May 4, 1980. Dorothy continued to live in Mondamin for several years, before moving to Carson.
Dorothy's passions included family, bowling, bingo, crocheting, the Price Is Right, and General Hospital. She bowled on several leagues in Missouri Valley and Oakland; highlighted by participating in national bowling tournaments. Dorothy religiously watched her beloved "Cubbies". As a self-taught seamstress, she was proud of the fact that she stitched bride and bridemaids' dresses for all her children's weddings.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers and sisters: Harold, Helen, Mildred, Lester, David Jr., Maurice, Opal, Everett, James, Kenneth, Eddie, Clara, William, and Leo.
She is survived by her children: Linda Thorstenson and husband Tom of Lakeville, MN, Bill Rounds of Council Bluffs, IA, and Cathy Fenn and husband Kevin of Carson, IA; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; her sisters Lois Stevens and Mary Lockling; and her sister-in-law Florine Rife. Dorothy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
