Obituary

Dorothy Pauline Johnson, the daughter of John Henry and Amelia Catherine Regina (Vette) Tiemann, was born July 5, 1924 in Northboro, IA and died June 24, 2015 at her home in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 17 days.


On May 23, 1942 Dorothy was united in marriage to Wilbur Benjamin Johnson at Grand Island, NE. In 1950, they moved to Northboro, where Dorothy worked in the kitchen at the school. In 1960, they moved to Oakland and Dorothy worked at the school before going to work at Oakland Manor Nursing Home in the kitchen. Wilbur died May 17, 2003. Dorothy continued to live in Oakland until 2006, when she moved to Council Bluffs.


Dorothy had been a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland and had been a faithful member of the ladies circle. She enjoyed embroidery, doing puzzles, word searches, and especially love playing BUNKO.


Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and nine brothers and sisters.


She is survived by her children, Larry Johnson and his wife Sherry of Council Bluffs, IA, and Janice Frain and her husband William of Homer City, PA; her grandchildren: Mark Johnson and his wife Sue of Huxley, IA, Kristin Andersen and her husband Dan of Polk City, IA, Tamie Blank and her husband Erik of Indiana, PA, William Frain and his wife Tammie of Ford City, PA, and Kathy Dashvick and her husband Brian of Pittsburgh, PA; twenty-one great grandchildren; and her sister Helen. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland. Visitation with the family will take place on Monday morning at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
