Obituary

Dorothy May Jarvis, the daughter of George and Leta May (Mountain) Steffen, was born January 9, 1929 in Yuma, CO and died December 15, 2014 at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Center in Greenfield, IA at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 6 days.


Dorothy's family moved to a farm near Cumberland, IA in 1934. Dorothy attended school at Cumberland, graduating with the class of 1947. On January 9, 1949 she was united in marriage to Harley Jarvis. They moved to Atlantic and then several years later to Griswold. Dorothy worked at the Griswold Bowling Alley for many years, and continued to live in Griswold until 10 years ago, when she moved to Omaha and then to Greenfield.


Dorothy was a long time member of the Griswold United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.


She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Harold; and a brother in infancy.


She is survived by her children, Lynn McIntosh and husband Richard of Greenfield, IA and Richard Jarvis and wife JoAnne of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren, Eric McIntosh and Shari McIntosh; her sister-in-law Ruth Steffen; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Griswold United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. A private family interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery at Cumberland. Memorials may be given to the Griswold United Methodist Church. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
