Dorothy A. Gigliotti, 76, of Council Bluffs, IA, formerly of Griswold, died Wednesday morning, December 23, 2009 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Dorothy Ann Selders was born at Griswold, IA, on September 14, 1933, the daughter of George Samuel and Ruth Viola (Lipp) Selders. She graduated from Griswold High School in 1951 and then went to Des Moines to attend beauty school. She worked as a cosmetologist in Council Bluffs. On January 4, 1955 she married Victor Thomas Gigliotti in Omaha, NE. They lived in Council Bluffs and she continued working as a beautician as Vic was an entertainer and toured with the Grand Ole Opry. They moved to Daytona Beach, FL in the mid 1960's and there she operated her own beauty shop. Following Victor's death on July 11, 1998, she and her son Douglas returned to Council Bluffs.
Survivors include her son Douglas of Council Bluffs, her brother Ralph Selders of Elliott, IA, and her sisters Mildred Miller of Grand Junction, CO and Helen Rothe of Council Bluffs, and her sisters-in-law Wilma Selders of Griswold and Joan Selders of Elliott as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her husband, and her son Kent Doyle Gigliotti on October 3, 1963. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, infant twins Floyd and Lloyd, Theodore, George, Paul, and Raymond Selders.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Open visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
