DORIS LOUISE GRAY
Doris Louise Gray, the daughter of O. Wendell and Edna M. (Kullbom) Turner, was born January 19, 1934 at Oakland, Iowa and died August 29, 2010 at the University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 76 years.
Doris attended school at Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1951. Doris married Walter E. Gray on September 2, 1950 at Logan, IA. She worked as a waitress at the Green Parrot Café in Oakland for a short time then became a housewife. She and Walter moved to Carter Lake, where Doris taught Sunday school for several years. She also worked as election worker for the school and national elections for 13 years in Carter Lake. In 1978, they moved to Millard.
Doris's hobbies included crossword puzzles, Sudoku, reading romance and mystery novels, playing Some-R-Set, and playing a game called murder. She loved animals, having coffee with friends in Carter Lake and Avon lunches
Doris is preceded in death by her husband Walter on April 27, 2008 and her parents.
She is survived by her children: Kristine Holdcroft of LaVista, NE, Michael Gray and wife Donna of Columbus, NE, and Ricky Gray and wife Diana of Crescent, IA; her brother Charles Turner and wife Nina of Powder Springs, GA; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland, IA. An open visitation will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM on Wednesday evening. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
