Obituary

Doris Ella DeWitt, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude Ann (Rupp) Neal, was born April 26, 1924 near Grant, IA and died July 19, 2015 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, IA at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 23 days.

Doris attended Hoosier Country School until the eighth grade, and then Villisca High School. She married Malcom Vernon Crum and one son was born to this union, Kenneth Howard on July 12, 1942. On July 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Junior Bryson. They lived East of Grant, where they farmed and had a dairy herd. They retired in the 1970's and moved into the town of Grant. Junior died November 17, 1986. On October 24, 1987 she was united in marriage to Dale DeWitt. They lived in Elliott before moving to Wickenburg, AZ. After Dale's death in 1997, Doris returned to Iowa where she remained until the time of her death.

Doris was baptized and became a member of the Grant United Methodist Church on May 13, 1951. She had been a member of the Grant Legion Auxiliary for 65 years. Doris always worked on the farm, helping wherever she was needed. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Junior and Dale; her son Kenneth on November 6, 2005; and her brothers and sisters: Johnny, Blanche, Albert, James, Cecil, Gordon, Lloyd, Ruby, Clifford, and Gerald.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Kathy Jo Dorsey of Corning, IA, David Allen Crum of Atlantic, IA, Carrie Lea Kirchhoff of Lewis, IA, Kendra Mae Johnson and husband T.J. of Farragut, IA, and Kenny Crum, Jr. of Farragut, IA; her great grandchildren: Tonya Lea Inman and husband Aaron of Prescott, IA, Michael Allan Dorsey and fiancée Sarah Wheatley of Massena, IA, Quinn Esbeck and husband Brian of Atlantic, IA, Cydney Karstens and husband Chris of Norman, OK, Jayney Hoegh of Murrieta, CA, and Kaitlin Dorsey and special friend Jeff Wood of Corning, IA; her great great grandchildren, Anna, Isabelle, Dillon, Lucas, Wyatt, and Willow; and her sisters-in-law: Martha, Mary, Marcella, Helen, Phyllis, and Betty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Grant United Methodist Church in Grant. Visitation with the family will take place at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Grant Cemetery. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
