Donna Mae Brockman

Donna Mae Brockman, the daughter of Dennis Lloyd and Margaret Marie (Bausch) Henke, was born at West Point, NE on June 2, 1938 and died December 30, 2010 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 28 days.

Donna graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1956. She worked at the Bear Creek Café and Knoke's Country Store after graduation. On May 7, 1964 she was united in marriage to Francis B. Brockman at Council Bluffs, IA. They lived in the country where Francis worked for several different farmers as a hired hand. After the death of Francis, on August 11, 1990, Donna moved to town. She began working at Kid Korner and enjoyed working there until it closed. Donna continued to live in Oakland until the time of her death.


Donna loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, reading, cooking, fishing, and doing crafts.


Donna is preceded in death by her husband Francis, her twin sister Fonda, and her parents.


She is survived by her son Kipp Brockman and wife Jane of Norfolk, NE; her grandchildren, Brooke Amelia and Kara Mae Brockman; her brothers and sisters: Jan Henke of Fairfield, CA, Janet Bintz of Hancock, IA, Richard Henke of Treynor, IA, Robert Henke of Oakland, IA, Martha Russell of Oakland, IA, Daniel Henke of Winterset, IA, William Henke of Earlam, IA and Joel Henke of Winterset, IA; Donna is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Oakland Christian Church. Rev. Earlin Shanno Officiating. An open visitation will be held at the Oakland Christian Church after 1:00 PM on Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held at the Oakland Christian Church on Tuesday from 6-7:30 PM. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
