Delmar Dean Larsen
Delmar Dean Larsen, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Manhalter) Larsen, was born April 10, 1939 in Omaha, NE and died March 13, 2012 at his home in Oakland, IA at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 3 days.
Delmar attended school in Omaha. He began trucking and drove many miles over the years as a truck driver. He lived in Council Bluffs and Silver City before settling in Oakland. Delmar lived in Oakland until the time of his death.
Delmar enjoyed painting by number and racing stock cars. He was known to have a great sense of humor. Delmar loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Delmar is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Victor; and his sister Donna.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Oakland; his daughters Kris Carlson and husband Chris of Council Bluffs, IA and Luann Thomsen and husband Michael of Ozark, MO; his son Daniel Dean Larsen of Omaha, NE; his brother Duane Larsen and wife Betty of Omaha, NE; his sister Phyllis Starr and husband Jim of Denver, CO; his sister-in-law Lola Larsen; his grandchildren: Jessica Riesland and husband Josh of Council Bluffs, IA, Brittney Battaglie and husband Isaac of Branson, MO, Samantha Bintz and husband Colt of Council Bluffs, IA, and Jonathon Thompsen of Ozark, MO; and his great grandchildren: Jordan, Faith, and Jaydan; and his friend Marg Larsen. Delmar is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Christian Church. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM and last until the time of the funeral service. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
