Delbert Fredrick Rieken, the son of George Ecke and Carrie Eve (Michaels) Rieken, was born July 24, 1920 in Cushing, NE. He died October 14, 2017 at the Griswold Care Center, in Griswold, IA, at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 20 days.

Delbert attended country school near Cushing and Belgrade until the 10 ^th grade. While attending school he helped on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Lola Belle Davis at the Lutheran Church in Albion, NE, on July 1, 1941.  They lived and farmed in the Albion area until 1948, when they moved to Griswold. Delbert farmed in the Griswold area until his retirement. He also worked for Moorman's Manufacturing Company selling feed for thirteen years. After retiring, Delbert continued to live in Griswold. He moved to the Griswold Care Center in 2014.

Delbert loved playing music and had played in many different locations with many different bands. He had been an auctioneer for over 40 years.

Delbert is preceded in death by his wife Lola on December 29, 1998; his parents; six brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his children: Roger Rieken and wife Glynna of Hatch, NM, Janice Dittman and husband Jack of Okoboji, IA, Charles Rieken and wife Doris of Griswold, IA, Doug Rieken and wife Brenda of Red Oak, IA; and George Rieken and wife Diane of Griswold, IA; his grandchildren: Vicky, Brandon, Kathy, Paul, Marty, Jeffrey, Jessica, Justin, and Jamie; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and his sisters, Alice Rolf and Shirley Northrup. He is also survived by many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Griswold United Methodist Church in Griswold. Interment will be in the Griswold Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at the Griswold United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
