Dean E. Belknap

Dean E. Belknap, the son of E. Clinton and Mildred Pearl (Breniman) Belknap, was born July 7, 1939 in Grand Island, NE and died March 8, 2012 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of72 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

Dean graduated from Lincoln High School. He attended college at Peru State, McCook Community College, Tarkio College, and Lincoln Community College. While living in Lincoln, he worked for the Lincoln Prison System. In 2003, Dean moved to Oakland, IA. He and his wife Judy lived in Oakland until the time of his death.

Dean had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln and had recently joined the Oakland Christian Church. Dean enjoyed watching baseball and collecting stamps.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Oakland; his brother Rowan Belknap and wife Karen of Austin, TX; his step daughters: Kelly Horgdal and husband Al of Henderson, IA, Kathy Carr and husband Myron of Carson, IA, and Karen Stierk and husband Brian of Red Oak, IA; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from noon until the time of the funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
