Obituary

David Lance Rodger, the son of Norman Lee and Barbara Ann (Youde) Rodger, was born August 26, 1951 in Spencer, IA. He died January 8, 2018, at his home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 66 years, 4 months, and 13 days.


Dave attended Sheldon High School. After high school he worked for the newspaper in Sheldon for several years. Later, he became a truck driver and worked for several trucking companies along with a heating and cooling company and as a paramedic.

On October 27, 2012 Dave and Marilyn Schmidt were united into marriage. They lived for a short time in Avoca before buying a house in Oakland, IA. He lived there at the time of his death.


Dave loved cooking, he would smoke meat and make Cajun food. He enjoyed gardening and music, he played the guitar, reading, studying his bible and filling in as a lay minister. He also enjoyed going to Cajun music and Blues festivals.


Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Brian.


He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children: Trinity, Andrea, April and Molly; his brothers and sisters: Mike Rodger, Laurie Clarkson, Debra Gould, Chris Rodger, Kurt Rodger and Eric Rodger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
